Job Profile
The Hosting Services – Server Specialist UNIX provides technical support of a complex nature for the firm's server environment and associated hardware and operating systems. This professional applies knowledge of UNIX and Linux server operations practices as well as good hardware and infrastructure experience to various platforms. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the firm's infrastructure to resolve complex incidents and problems and to provide a stable and reliable infrastructure.

Experience

HP-UX - 5 years

Red Hat Linux - 3 years

Solaris -1 year

Essential functions

Provides support for hardware, operating system, and software platforms.

Server Configuration Changes as outlined in Remedy request such as:

User Access Requests

Server Security- Modify Security settings

File system Creation,Incident and Problem Handling,Server Builds,Server Patching,General Server OS Support,System Software and 3rd Party Software installation/Maintenance – Control/M Best/1 OVO etc

SSH account and key management,Log management,Coordination of Server Maintenance including firmware, hardware and software

Skills

UNIX and Linux Administration , especially on HP-UX, Solaris and RedHat Linux Platforms

Strong Knowledge of UNIX Operating Systems, especially HP-UX version-1 and 2, PA-RISC and Itanium. Sun Solaris and RedHat Linux

Experience in both Enterprise PA-RISC and Itanium platforms

Experience in implementing Superdomes and other high end servers

Extensive experience in setting up the nPars and vPars

Experience in setting up the Oracle RAC on Linux platform

Strong Experience in LVM, Veritas Volume Manager, Online JFS

Strong knowledge on MC Service Guard

Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining applications on Unix servers

Knowledge of UNIX shell scripting and Perl programming

Analysis and tuning of UNIX kernel

Extensive experience of Troubleshooting and resolution of UNIX OS and Applications

Ability to document processes and procedures

Knowledge of SAN and Storage

Knowledge of Netbackup

Understanding of IP protocols and networking

Knowledge of systems performance analysis and security tuning.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Strong working knowledge in ITIL Incident Management

Ability to work and team effectively with clients, management and staff members
