Job Profile

IT Services - Operations provides stable, cost-effective IT services. Its professionals simplify and streamline Clients IT environment for operational excellence. They proactively manage the availability of IT services and contribute to the design of solutions.

As an Oracle DBA, you will provide third level technical support for ORACLE database administration, applications and databases services



Client responsibilities

Provide third level technical support for Oracle database administration, applications and databases services

Provide Oracle DBA expertise/advice on key projects

Assist in developing strategic technical/architectural plans for the Oracle database and applications infrastructure

Respond to escalated 3rd level support calls

Escalate calls to development team, product managers and third party vendors as required

Assist in developing and implementing a workable support model for the Oracle database/app environments

Assist in the planning and implementation of changes/releases/upgrades to the Oracle database/app environments

Communicate changes to IT Services and internal client via Change Request and user notification applications

Provide after hours support for the Oracle database/app infrastructure when required

Monitor Oracle database performance and proactively address potential performance issues

Work with the development team to resolve bug-fixes and assist in relevant testing through various environments

People responsibilities: Should have good people management skills with ability to lead and motivate the team. Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for all levels of staff. Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training

Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures. Ability to act independently at times

Flexible to multiple demands with the ability to shift priorities. Ability to troubleshoot, analyze and provide solutions to complex issues within an enterprise environment



Skills & Experience Requirements

BE/BTech/MCA/BSc

At least 7 years of experience as a Senior Oracle DBA with 3rd level support

Oracle 10g a must and Oracle 11g experience preferred

5 years of experience managing a large production RAC installation

5 years experience in Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management) installation, configuration & administration

Strong experience in backing up and restoring Oracle databases using RMAN.

Strong production experience in archiving large tables/partitions.

Supported a mix of applications (OLTP, Data Warehousing)

Demonstrated experience in designing and/or configuring high-availability Oracle databases for mission critical applications is a must

Demonstrated experience in managing and administering multi-terabyte Oracle databases with a large user base spread across the country and internationally is a must

Strong understanding of Unix server technology & SAN storage is a must

Strong understanding of Redhat Linux will be a must over time

Knowledge of Oracle Advanced replication or Streams a must

Knowledge of Oracle compression a must

Experience in support of business intelligence solutions/applications or experience in managing large Oracle data warehouse database will be highly regarded

Strong troubleshooting skills is must

Strong communication skills is must

Experience in management of communication at high levels in the organization is must

Ability to work within a "deadline" driven environment is must

Experience in team/people management will be highly regarded

Strong understanding of ITIL principles desirable
