Job Description

You will be responsible for classifying the commodities in a shipment in accordance to the national tariff tables, and determine a preliminary assessment of the duties and taxes payable for the shipments imported / exported through the client. You will coordinate with accounts and other internal departments to facilitate smooth cargo clearance. 

Desired Profile

Qualification  & Experience

·         Any Degree
·         G CARD a MUST
·         2+ years Experience

Desired Skills to handle the following

·         Determine the shipment value in accordance  valuation guidelines provided by the local authorities
·         Determine and classify the shipment commodities in accordance to the national tariff classifications tables available, and determining the corresponding duty and tax rates, taking into consideration: (1) Country of origin for preferential treatment; (2) Concessions or Exemptions applicable to the shipment commodity or importer/exporter; and (3) Applicable customer instructions recorded in the Customer Instruction Database Records.
·         Compute a preliminary assessment on the duty and taxes payable to the external agencies (including any additional taxes e.g. countervailing or anti-dumping taxes), and fees or charges payable to company
·         Assign the shipment records where it is not able to compute a preliminary duty and tax assessment due to incomplete or inadequate information available on the shipment record (e.g. shipment commodity descriptions is vague and inadequate for commodity classification)  to the Clearance Support Group for further investigation and resolution.
·         Assign the shipment record when it is determined to contain prohibited or restricted shipments (as identified from HTS classifications) to Clearance Support for verification and resolution
·         In event that the computed preliminary duty and taxes payable exceeds the company  approved limits, the CA will assign the shipment record to Clearance Support to obtain the payment approvals unless there exists pre-recorded customer approvals to make the excess payments.

·         Good Software skills i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
·         Good Communication skills in English and Local Language
